While many, myself included, might initially fear a kind of Gotham problem with this project, the idea of a Metropolis TV series focused on Lois and Lex from different angles with fringe science is quite appealing in a pre-Superman world. The project was announced at the start of 2018 to be a potential part of the DC Universe streaming service, which just had Swamp Thing added to the 2019 schedule plan. Metropolis, on the other hand, has apparently been shelved back into the redevelopment phase as the initial idea wasn’t working out quite as planned.
With John Stephens and Danny Cannon from Gotham set as executive producers working with Warner Bros. Television, Cannon was set to direct the first episode with the story by both of them to set the overall guide for the project. It’s not been revealed why it’s entering re-development at this point.
Plot Concept: Set in the wondrous and awe-inspiring City of Tomorrow before the arrival of Superman, Metropolis, based on the DC characters, follows Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate the world of fringe science and expose the city’s dark and bizarre secrets.
