With it over a year since the Masamune-kun’s Revenge anime series aired we learned earlier this year that the tenth volume of the manga, set for a July 27th, 2018 release, will have a bundled OVA with details as to what it’s about to be revealed. The details have now been confirmed a bit but it comes with a bit of unfortunate news in that the manga is ending in three more chapters, which should be the end of June 2018. That means that the tenth volume with the bundled OVA has gotten some details as it’s been revealed that it’ll be an “after story” kind of epilogue piece for the manga itself, which is definitely an interesting way to go.
The series began back in 2012 from writer Takeoka Hazuki and artist Tiv and ends its serialization in 2018 with ten volumes by Comix Rex. Seven Seas Entertainment has the North American rights to the property.
The TV series was directed by Mirai Minato based on the series composition from Michiko Yokote. Yokote worked on the scripts with Kento Shimoyama while Yuki Sawairi handled the character designs. The show was animated by Silver Link.
The Japanese cast includes Ayaka Ohashi as Aki Adagaki, Inori Minase as Yoshino Koiwai, Yui Ogura as Kinue Hayase, Asuka Oogame as Chinatsu Hayase, Mariya Ise as Sonoka Kaneko, Kanae Itou as Kikune Kiba and Satomi Sato as Mari Mizuno
Plot concept: As an overweight child, Makabe Masamune was mercilessly teased and bullied by one particular girl, Adagaki Aki. Determined to one day exact his revenge upon her, Makabe begins a rigorous regimen of self-improvement and personal transformation.
Years later, Masamune re-emerges as a new man. Handsome, popular, with perfect grades and good at sports, Masamune-kun transfers to Aki’s school, and is unrecognizable to her. Now, Masamune-kun is ready to confront the girl who bullied him so many years ago and humiliate her at last. But will revenge be as sweet as he thought?
