We learned over the weekend that the Koi to Uso / Love and Lies manga is getting a limited edition bundled volume with an anime episode. Set for a November 2018 debut, it’ll come with the eighth volume of the series from Tsumugi Musawo and we now have the first promotional video for it. It’s expected that that project will bring back those involved in the TV series that aired in the summer 2017 season (and could be a precursor for another season?) that Sentai Filmworks has licensed for release in July 2018. The first story is one written by Musawo while the second will adapt a story from the booklet that was included with the fifth volume. The manga was picked up last year domestically by Kodansha Comics with five volumes out so far.
The anime TV series was directed by Seiki Takuno with animation produced by LIDENFILMS. The original manga comes from Musawo Tsumugi which began in 2014.
The Japanese cast includes Kana Hanazawa as Misaki Takasaki, Yui Makino as Lilina Sanasa, Ryota Osaka as Yukari Nejima, Shinnosuke Tachibana as Yuusuke Nisaka, Kishou Taniyama as Kou Yajima, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Kagetsu Ichijou, and Eri Kitamura handling the narration.
The opening theme song is “Kanashii Ureshii” by Frederic while the ending theme song is “Can’t you say” by Roys.
Plot Concept: Lies are forbidden and love is doubly forbidden. In the near future, when young people in Japan turn sixteen, they are assigned a marriage partner by the government. People don’t have to go through the trouble of looking for someone, and everyone accepts that the country will find a compatible partner to make them happy. Yukari Nejima is fifteen years old. He lives in a small corner of the country, and just can’t seem to get ahead in life. Both academically and athletically, he’s below average. But within him, he hides a heart burning with passion! In this world in which love is forbidden, what will happen to him when he falls in love?
