What They Say:
The cute and mysterious cat-like creatures called Mitchiri Neko that seem to gather around each other if you leave them alone now get their own anime with a glorious voice cast! The free and happy-go-lucky Mitchiri Neko’s daily life is filled fluff and surreal laughs! Say it with me, “Mitchiri! Mitchiri!”

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Though I keep finding some bits to like, Mitchiri Neko as a whole is a show I struggle with in enjoying because it simply can’t really develop its humor with all it wants to do. This batch of tiny stories continues to have its cuteness, though the opening rotation bit certainly wasn’t one of them. Nor the second one with them just spinning around for a bit while others watch on. I was mildly amused by some of them dreaming about coming out as different animals and how that would play out and the fun bit with one of them taking the taxi only to have it be a giant ball of cats that rolls around town. It’s just so perfect ala Katamari.

In Summary:
Silly things are silly things, such as the cats doing a hot spring or some comical minecart construction stuff that has its moments – especially as it sheds cats. But there’s just so little to these beyond the little bit that we get that they lack that kind of long lasting resonance needed to be something more. I smile a few times each episode but really just find myself more frustrated by the way it could have been so much more.
