Live-Action ‘Titans’ Series Adds More ‘Doom Patrol’ Casting

2 min read

Warner Bros. is getting closer to launching their DC-branded digital service that doesn’t have a name yet and one of the marquee titles is definitely going to be the Titans series. We’ve gotten some good stuff with costumes and casting so far and we recently learned of the Doom Patrol being involved with the casting of Bruno Bichir as Niles Caulder. Now another member has been added with April Bowlby joining in the role of Elasti-Girl. The Doom Patrol is essentially a much more crazy and nuts kind of version of the X-Men in its origins that became something more under the mature Vertigo brand in the 90’s.

The character is described as “[a]n actress on the rise, Rita Farr was exposed to a toxic gas that altered her cellular structure — which, in the comics, allows her to expand or shrink her body at will. Longing for the days of old, Rita finds a place for herself among The Doom Patrol.”

Previously announced cast includes Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Teagan Croft as Raven, Anna Diop as Starfire, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly Dove, and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy.

The series will be done by Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros TV, which means there’s a very good chance it’ll connect with The CW shows to some degree as Berlanti’s projects have worked to keep that a part of things.

Plot Concept: Titans follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In the action-adventure series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven, and others.
