Netflix Series ‘Altered Carbon’ Reveals Second Trailer

The upcoming Netflix series Altered Carbon is their most expensive series yet according to the rumor mill and it’s definitely looking like it’s going to show up in the show itself. We’d gotten a trailer for it in early December that set expectations and now a new “feature length” trailer for it has arrived that shows more of the budget on the screen that has me very excited to see it.

The series is based on the 2002 novel by Richard K. Morgan and was adapted by Laeta Kalogridis, who is handling Battle Angel Alita. The show is set for a February 2nd, 2018 release.

The cast includes Joel Kinnaman as the lead character of Takeshi Kovacs, Chris Conner as Po, Ato Essandoh as Vernon Elliot, Marlene Forte as Alazne Ortega and Trieu Tran as Mister Leung.

“Altered Carbon is one of the most seminal pieces of post-cyberpunk hard science fiction out there — a dark, complex noir story that challenges our ideas of what it means to be human when all information becomes encodable, including the human mind,” Kalogridis said at the time of the book rights acquisition.

Plot Concept: Based on the classic cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan, Altered Carbon is an intriguing story of murder, love, sex, and betrayal, set more than 300 years in the future. Society has been transformed by new technology: consciousness can be digitized; human bodies are interchangeable; death is no longer permanent. Takeshi Kovacs is the lone surviving soldier in a group of elite interstellar warriors who were defeated in an uprising against the new world order. His mind was imprisoned, “on ice”, for centuries until Laurens Bancroft, an impossibly wealthy, long-lived man, offers Kovacs the chance to live again. In exchange, Kovacs has to solve a murder … that of Bancroft himself.
