A December Wrap-up Note

2 min read

It’s hard to believe but we’re just about at the end of December and the end of 2017.

It’s been a crazy year on a lot of fronts and I know I’ve been pulled in a lot of different directions while dealing with friends and family with problems and needs. I’m personally in a vastly different place from where I was this time last year and continue to be hopeful that 2018 will be something far better, because it would be crazy to hope that it’d be worse!

The last month in particular has been very difficult, hence this note, as I’m just now starting to feel on track after some health issues. Thanksgiving weekend was a big pre-winter clean-up weekend for me after handling a massive basement purge and that was more than my back could handle. That’s left me for the past month unable to do much in the way of walking (which those on Twitter will note the absence of daily updates) and I’ve also had a very hard time even sitting comfortably without pain, making it hard to concentrate. I’ve gotten behind on anime reviewing (it took two weeks to work on Squid Girl!) and a few other things because I could be at my desk for only limited durations.

That’s not easing off as I’m probably about 60% back on track and trying to catch up on some cleanup elements as we move through the quiet week. Sometimes the hard times take longer to get through than you’d think, and those that have been on this journey with me going back to 1998 will know that some of that is just as you get older!

But we’re looking forward to this new year and reshaping things. We’ve got a great crew here writing about our passions (and always looking for more folks to come on board!) and can’t wait to see what 2018 will bring in this realm.

Here’s to the new year!
