The fall 2017 anime series Inuyashiki has its home video release plans handled by Aniplex Japan and they’ve set a familiar pattern for it. The distributor will be bringing the show out as two separate DVD and Blu-ray collections on January 24th, 2018 and April 25th, 2018 priced at 15,000 yen for the DVDs and 17,000 yen for the Blu-ray’s.

The Japanese cast includes Fumiyo Kohinata as Ichirō Inuyashiki, Nijirō Murakami as Hiro Shishigami, Sumire Uesaka as Mari Inuyashiki, and Sumire Moroboshi as Shion Watanabe.

The property is getting both a live-action film and an anime TV series. The project set Keiichi Satou as the chief director with Shuhei Yabuta serving as the hands-on director at MAPPA. Hiroshi Seko is on board for the series composition and Naoyuki Onda handled the character design.

Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga in print and digital form with Crunchyroll also doing some simulpub work on it.

Plot Concept: Ichiro Inuyashiki is down on his luck. While only 58 years old, his geriatric looks often have him written off as a pathetic old man by the world around him and he’s constantly ignored and disrespected by his family despite all that he’s done to support them. On top of everything else, his doctor has revealed that he has cancer and it appears that he has little time left in this world. But just when it seems things couldn’t get any worse, a blinding light in the night sky strikes the earth where Ichiro stands. He later wakes up to find himself unscathed, but he soon starts to notice that there’s something…different about himself.
