We learned back in April about the upcoming anime adaptation of Kodoku no Gourmet that will give us some more food related anime goodness. We haven’t heard much since that first announcement but now we’ve learned that Kazuchika Kise will be directing it and that Kenyuu Horiuchi will play the lead role with Gorou Inogashira.
The series is getting a ten-episode run with each one at three minutes each. The project is based on the manga from Jiro Taniguchi and Masayuki Kusumi that originally ran in the 90′s but got a continuation in 2008 with an irregular schedule. The source material has seen an adaptation as a live-action Chinese web drama while the sixth season of the Japanese live-action TV series kicked off earlier this month.
Plot concept: The series describes how Gorou Inogashira, the main character, chooses and takes a meal. Unlike other gourmet manga, Gorou likes to eat at cheap restaurants and no trivia on cuisine is given. The authors are trying to depict the essentials of the act of “eating” by Gorou’s monologue, which comprises most of the lines of this manga.
