‘A Centaur’s Life’ Gets Another Live-Action… Thing

2 min read

Centaur LAFollowing up on the first promotional video for this a couple of weeks ago, A Centaur’s Life gets another live-action segment that really just leaves you kind of feeling bad for the actress and sad for humanity. And sad for yourself if upon seeing the beach setup that there’s no bathing suit sequence to be had here.

Yes, I did spend eight minutes watching this. I feel bad about this.

In part of the promotion for the anime adaptation and the home video release to come, SMIRAL has put together an “amusing” eight-minute piece that features what it would be like of the centaur thing was real and the way that it’s a problem fitting in with modern Japan. But, through determination, it can be accomplished.

Honestly, half of it feels like the set up for porn. But that may just be me.

Fumitoshi Oizaki serves as the general director with Naoyuki Konno working as the series director. Touko Machida is on board to work on the series composition while aHide Shibuya is serving as the character designer and chief animation director. Studio Emon and Encourage Films will be handling the animation production.

The previously announced Japanese cast includes Seria Furukawa as Himeno Kimihara, Yuuki Kuwahara as Nozomi Gokuraku, Haruka Shiraishi as Kyouko Naraku, Yuna Kamakura as Manami Mitama, Yuu Ayase as Quetzalcoatl Sassassul, Emi Miyajima as Mitsuyo Akechi, Honoka Kuroki as Inukai, Takaki Ootomari as Makoto Komori, Daisuke Oohashi as Chidori Hyappo, and Yomoya Yano as Yutaka Nekomi.

The opening theme song is “Oshiete Darwin” by Purely Monster while the ending theme song is “Edelweiss” by Asaka.

The manga comes from creator Kei Murayama which began in 2010 in Comic Ryu magazine and has fourteen volumes so far. It’s been released in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment who brought out the eleventh volume this month.

Plot Concept: Himeno is a sweet, shy little centaur girl. In her world, everyone seems to be a supernatural creature, and all her classmates have some kind of horns, wings, tails, halos, or other visible supernatural body part. Despite their supernatural elements, Himeno and her best friends, Nozomi and Kyoko, have a fun and mostly normal daily school life!
