Crunchyroll has a new short-form series that they’re now able to stream thanks to their partnership with Funimation as they’ve added Doamayger-D. This is a fun little throwback kind of series that gives us something old school with a sense of love about it. Availability for it is pretty good for members as it’s open to viewers in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.

Funimation brought out the complete Doamayger-D short-form anime series back on August 30th, 2016 with a subtitled-only collection, which is unfortunate since it’s so short that you wish they’d go the extra mile on it. While it’s a way away, and it’s just $14.98 list. The series saw a Japanese home video release back on May 27th, 2015 priced at 6,264 yen for the 33 minute release that contains the entire series. There was about 50 minutes worth of extras here according to the listing with a cast video, commentary and the opening and closing sequences as well as a promo spot collection.
Plot concept: Take food fights to the next level in this bite-sized homage to mecha anime of the past. In modern day Kyoto, young Daijiro Kyogoku has finally taken over his family’s traditional Japanese sweets shop. One day at the shop, Daijiro comes across a mysterious giant candy-making robot named Doamygar-D hidden in the shop’s basement. This robot is a master of treats, and along with Daijiro, they make the perfect dessert crafting pair. When evil monster-like robots take over begin attacking the city, Daijiro must man his newfound candy-making mecha to feed the insatiable hunger of these foes and turn them back into harmless humans. There has to be someone behind all these transforming treat-loving terrors, and that someone might be closer to Daijiro than he ever thought possible.
