More ‘Shokoku no Altair’ Supporting Anime Cast Revealed

Shokoku no AltairWe learned previously that studio MAPPA is involved in the adaptation of Shokoku no Altair, a historical fantasy manga series that comes from Kotono Kato. With a number of the main cast revealed previously along with the staff, there are two new additions to the supporting side that have been revealed. Takaya Satou has signed on to play Ibrahim while Yoko Hikasa has joined as Shara.

The new adaptation has Kazuhiro Furuhashi directing based on the series composition by Noboru Takagi. Toshiyuki Kanno is handling the character designs with it being animated at MAPPA.

The previously announced Japanese cast includes:

  • Ayumu Murase as Mahmut
  • Makoto Furukawa as Zaganos
  • KENN as Kyros
  • Katsuyuki Konishi as Sleiman
  • Kenjiro Tsuda as Rui
  • Kenichi Ogata as Khalil
  • Junichi Suwabe as Abiriga

The original work comes from Kotono Kato and began in Monthly Shonen Sirius back in 2007 with the eighteenth volume due out in January 2017.

Plot concept: Mahmut is a young Pasha serving on the general’s council of Turkey. The clouds of war are gathering over his country. With Turkey’s council split between the warmongers and the pacifists, Mahmut begins his quest to keep the peace at any cost. As he finds himself deeper and deeper in the politics of the ancient world, new enemies and allies surface. Who will prevail? What will Mahmut do if war proves to be inevitable?
