Now that the gang has settled more on the fact that they’re stuck here and are trying to find ways to make it work, including finding a place to live, they’re also trying to get some food. And one approach is to find a job that includes employee meals, which is cute as they beg at a local restaurant. That they end up working in a sushi joint is comically cute, especially as the non-owner employee basically gets overwhelmed by these new guys that his boss has brought in. They’re not the best workers but they have a lot of enthusiasm since it means they can get some food as well. Watching them trying to deliver sushi, wait on tables, or make sushi, all of it is just comically bad but you have to appreciate the way they sneak some food throughout it.
In Summary:
The energy of this series can sometimes be a little off-putting when I watch it but there’s a lot to like in how it plays out. It’s a fun kids show that just goes goofy and silly where it can with its excitement and energy so that you get drawn into it easily enough. Their time working at the sushi restaurant here is definitely adorable in a lot of ways and you can totally get behind the way Pepu and Chiku are handling everything and why. It’s just plain silly and makes me smile, which is what I expected and wanted out of a show like this.
