The latest rankings have come in from Japan with what’s selling for both the light novel and manga markets for the week ending May 21st, 2017. While One Piece has dropped to third place with another 120,000 units, the top two titles aren’t burning up the charts in a really huge way. The latest Seven Deadly Sins takes the top at 250,000 units, which is certainly good, while Fairy Tail hits 160,000 with the arrival of the 51st volume. The top ten has some good series in the mix, many adding more volumes, though it’s still surprising to see Knight in the Area charting – or even still ongoing – as it has hit its 57th volume.
On the light novel side, the latest Goblin Slayer built well on last week’s release with another 16,000 in sales to keep it at the top of the list. A Certain Magical Index had a great second week with just under 14,000 to bring it to just under 50,000. We’re also seeing Eromanga-sensei continue to burn through a few thousand copies each week since the anime arrived with the previously released volumes.
