2 min read

Mamotte ShugogettenToei Animation is digging into its archives a bit for another series to bring out on Blu-ray with Mamotte Shugogetten. With the TV series out earlier this month for the first time, the distributor is now working on the OVA side of the property. The eight episode series OVA originally was released from 2000 to 2001 and it looks like we’ll be getting another upscale for this one due to how it was produced originally. The show is getting a single Blu-ray box set on December 6th, 2017 priced at 17,280 yen.

Based on the manga by Minene Sakurano, the series was directed by Yukio Kaizawa based on the series composition by Yoshimichi Hosoi. Character designs were done by Ken Ueno and it was animated by Toei Animation.

The Japanese cast includes Daisuke Sakaguchi as Tasuke Shichiri, Mariko Kouda as Shaorin, Ayako Kawasumi as Rishu, Eriko Hara as Kaori Aihara, Hideyuki Hori as Tarōsuke Shichiri, Houko Kuwashima as Kiryuu, Nami Miyahara as Shōko Yamanobe, Omi Minami as Koichirō Endō, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Izumo Miyauchi and Yumi Takada as Ruuan.

Plot concept: Tasuke Shichiri is the envy of his friends because since his parents are always traveling he can do as he pleases. It’s a surprise present from his father that keeps him from being lonely: an odd ring known as the shitenrin. From it comes a moon goddess named Shaorin, dedicated to protecting her “master” — no matter how much of a mess she makes doing it!
