With the kind of anything goes slam of titles that are in various stages of production (or chaos) from Warner Bros. in bringing to life the DC Comics properties that they have, any new announcements kind of leave you a little wary to see if it actually advances in a meaningful way – particularly since a few films have had rotating director’s chairs for a bit and the focus has been on Justice League and the mess of The Batman.
So there’s certainly some interest in the news that a Nightwing movie is being planned that focuses on the Dick Grayson, the original Robin, that outgrew the role and took on his own mantle and style of dealing with crime and threats to humanity. The studio has apparently set things in motion for a feature film for the character with Chris McKay in negotiations to director it with a script from Bill Dubuque, who wrote The Accountant. McKay is certainly garnering accolades for his work in directing The LEGO Batman movie and it shows that he has a pretty good idea of what makes a lot of characters tick from this particular segment of the DC Comics world.
