Fullmetal Alchemist Alphonse CGThe official site for the Warner Bros. Japan live-action film project for Fullmetal Alchemist has dropped some new information as we now have a premiere date of DEcember 1st, 2017 for it there. Additionally, we also got a new look at the CG version of Alphonse, which definitely looks like it has them upping their game a bit in bringing it to life. The film is currently in post-production with Fumihiko Sori directing it based on the property by Hiromu Arakawa that has achieved worldwide success both in the manga and the two anime properties and movies that were produced for it.

Showing that there’s starting to be some awareness for how racial aspects play outside of Japan, “The cast is entirely composed of Japanese actors, but the cultural setting is that of Europe,” Fumihiko Sori said previously. “However, the race and nationality of the characters aren’t specifically identified.”

The cast includes Ryousuke Yamada as Edward Elric, Tsubasa Honda as Alphonse Elric, Dean Fujioka as Roy Mustang, Ryuuta Satou as Maes Hughes, Misako Renbutsu as Riza Hawkeye, Natsuna as Maria Ross, Natsuki Harada as Gracia Hughes, You Ooizumi as Shou Tucker, Jun Kunimura as Tim Marcoh, Fumiyo Kohinata as Hakuro, Yasuko Matsuyuki as Lust, Kanata Hongou as Envy, Shinji Uchiyama as Gluttony and Kenjirou Ishimaru as Cornello.

Property Concept: The rules of alchemy state that to gain something, one must lose something of equal value. Alchemy is the process of taking apart and reconstructing an object into a different entity, with the rules of alchemy to govern this procedure. However, there exists an object that can bring any alchemist above these rules, the object known as the Philosopher’s Stone. The young Edward Elric is a particularly talented alchemist who through an accident years back lost his younger brother Alphonse and one of his legs. Sacrificing one of his arms as well, he used alchemy to bind his brother’s soul to a suit of armor.

This lead to the beginning of their journey to restore their bodies, in search for the legendary Philosopher’s Stone.
