The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
There are times with this series where I feel like I’m mostly watching it just for the 8-bit goodness of the opening sequence with all its references. With this episode, the girls hit the hot spring where they’re enjoying the warmth, at least until a wolf comes by that starts drinking the water. And then a sheep does because both are pervy in wanting to empty it out. That in turn leads to a whole lot of other nonsense that doesn’t mean anything because this is all about quick hit gags with little to no continuity within an individual episode.
In Summary:
While some episodes are more coherent than others, Ai Mai Mi – Surgical Friends plays more for the spastic and disconnected sense of things this time around. There are some amusing gags that are quick and unrelated to the rest of the episode that will make you grin and laugh but there’s also a lot of quick hit dead weight that doesn’t do anything. I get the style and intention of the show but it still has more misfires for me than actual good material and this episode is definitely a misfire.
