With some cringe worthy material the last time around, the show tries to shift gears a bit here as Mai starts talking to Mi about her lack of friends, wondering what’s going on with that. It’s a cute prologue piece as Mai gets quite emotional about it and you know it eats at Mi just a bit – to the point where she says she’ll bring the best friend ever tomorrow for her to meet. Mi’s evening takes a dark turn after that with who she comes across as she gets the ability to create her ideal friend thanks to a little help from the supernatural and some clay. Suffice to say, creating a friend never goes well and Mi basically creates a hideous monster that wants to be her friend that she wants nothing to do with. So appropriate!

In Summary:
While I’ve had some good episodes over the past two seasons I’ve had more bad episodes that don’t do much for me. This episode falls into the mediocre category where it has some mild moments where you may almost smile but that’s about it. The show does well to keep its focus on just the two characters and allow for some lingering time here and there, especially with Mi’s creation, but it still can’t find enough or strong enough humor to really work.
