Oh, Warner Bros., when will you learn? According to Deadline, the planned Shazam! film has now become two films with a Black Adam film added to the mix. Dwayne Johnson signed on to play Black Adam previously and had a meeting with New Line last week where it looks like things have shifted so that we’ll get another villain-lead film. Considering what Johnson brings to the table this really isn’t a surprise and it offers up a chance to do something interesting with the character that may not involve Shazam in it either, considering the stable of characters that they have at their disposal.
With a planned April 5th, 2019 release date for Shazam, it’ll be interesting to see if it gets flipped to do Black Adam first. And at some point they really have to think about casting Shazam himself.
