After delighting fans with his work on Ping Pong the Animation recently and several works prior to that, Masaaki Yuasa has revealed the next project he’s directing with Yoake Tsugeru Lu no Uta, which translates as (Lu Over the Wall. The feature film is planned for a May 19th, 2017 debut and the first trailer for it has arrived along with staffing and casting. With Masaaki Yuasa directing, it’s based on the screenplay by him and Reiko Yoshida. Yoko Nemu provided the original character designs while Nobutake Itou adapted them and serves as the animation director. THe film is being animated by Science SARU studio.

- Shinichi Shinohara as Lu’s Father
- Chidori as Comic Duo
- Akira Emoto as Grandfather
- Soma Saito as Kunio
- Minako Kotobuki as Yuuho
The theme song for the film is “Uta Utai no Ballad” by Kazuyoshi Saito.
Plot concept: The story centers on Kai, a gloomy middle school student whose life changes after meeting Lu, a mermaid.
