With Funimation bringing out Rampo Kitan: Game of Laplace on home video this month in North America, Madman Entertainment has now made their play for it in Australia. The distributor has set a March 8th, 2017 release for the title that will mirror the North American release int hat it’s going to be in Japanese with English subtitles only. The show is getting separate DVD and Blu-ray editions priced at $59.95 and $69.95 respectively. No extras are detailed for it yet.

The series is directed by Seiji Kishi based on scripts by Makoto Ueze at studio Lerche. It stars Katsuyuki Konishi as Kagami, Cho as Nakamura, Yōko Hikasa as Kuro Tokage, Takehito Koyasu as Kageo, Saki Fujita as Minami, Kappei Yamaguchi as Shitai-kun, Takahiro Sakurai as Akechi, Rie Takahashi as Kobayashi, Daiki Yamashita as Hashiba.
Ranpo refers to Edogawa Ranpo with this work being produced for the 50th anniversary since the writers death. A mystery writer, he has a slew of works over the years before he passed away in 1965.
Plot concept: The story takes place at a certain middle school where several murder cases take place. Kobayashi, a boy who goes to this school, meets genius detective Akechi, who comes to the school to investigate. Kobayashi takes an interest in Akechi and, in spite of his friend Hashiba’s worries, he volunteers to be Akechi’s assistant.
