2 min read

popin-qI almost feel like I’ve seen the whole movie already with as many teases and trailers that Toei Animation is bringing out for the Popin Q anime feature. With a decent teaser out earlier this week, this latest one clocks in at just under two minutes and goes for the grander approach to things as well as an upbeat element through the theme song for it. The work is planned for a December 23rd, 2016 theatrical debut in Japan. The original film is being directed by Naoki Miyahara based on the script from Shuuko Arai. Takayuki Urakami is on board with the character designs and serving as the chief animation director for it.

The cast includes Asami Seto as Isumi Kominato, Shiori Izawa as Aoi Hioka, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Saki Tsukui, Ari Ozawa as Asahi Ōmichi, Atsumi Tanezaki as Konatsu Tomodate, Marina Tanoue as Pokon, Kaori Ishihara as Lucia, Kaede Hondo as Daren, M.A.O as Tadona, Satomi Arai as Lupee, Wakako Shimazaki as Eriko, Isumi’s mother, Daisuke Ono as Junpei, Isumi’s father and Michio Hazama as Genji, Isumi’s grandfather.

Plot concept: The story begins the day before the graduation ceremony. Five middle school girls each are preoccupied with their real everyday lives. These girls meet each other in a fantasy world after being sent there through a sudden occurrence. There, they learn about the impending crisis that this world is facing. The way to avert this crisis is for the five to collaborate and bring their five hearts together as one through dance.

However, the five cannot come to love the world, and cannot tell their true feelings to one another, so their hearts are unable to unite. The time limit is fast approaching. Can the dance of the five girls save the world? And will they be able to graduate?
