What They Say
Although Nao Kogure was once afraid of the delinquent Taiga Onise, she was soon touched by his kind soul. Taiga is dating Nao, and his friend Futami knows this but still pursues Nao anyway. After Futami confesses his feelings to Nao, can Taiga and Futami truly remain friends?
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
This volume starts where the last one left with Futami awaiting Nao’s answer to his confession. She doesn’t waver for a second and tells him clearly that Taiga is the only one for her. Futami doesn’t hesitate to tell Taiga he confessed to Nao and that he was rejected. Nao also tells Taiga right away. Their relationship blossoms from there.
The rest of the volume focuses on Yashiro’s story. Her loneliness is a product of being the only child to overly busy parents. She’s left alone from when she is small and is always forgotten even on her birthday. Along comes Ikumi, who was hired to be her tutor. He is the first one that gives her proper attention and she falls for him. She clings to Ikumi even though cheats on her.
Masaki instantly doesn’t like Ikumi. It takes him a little bit to realize why he hates Ikumi, but when he realizes he actually likes Yashiro, he jumps in to rescue and confess to her. His action leads Yashiro in a new direction and away from Ikumi. She also realizes that she’s not as lonely as she once thought.
In Summary
This is by the far the best volume of the series. The sweet romance of Taiga and Nao remains strong. It has become the foundation of the story allowing the story to move on and evolve. The focus on Yashiro and Misaki was fantastic. Not only because Misaki finally confesses his feelings, but we learn so much about Yashiro. Also, for such a sweet shojo story, it surprising delves into Yashiro’s life that includes having sex with a college-aged guy. This gives the story a lot more depth than the previous volumes.
If you’re not sure if this manga is for you, give it a try with the knowledge that it just keeps getting better.
