‘Mikagura School Suite’ Anime Dub Clip Presents Stylish Club Battle

mikagura-school-suite-header-10-7Funimation recently released the Mikagura School Suite Complete Collection as a Blu-ray / DVD Combo on September 27th, 2016 where the full twelve episode series will be priced at $64.98. The promotion for it continues on as we get a new two-minute clip that does a really good job of explaining the basics of the premise for the series so that you have an idea of what you’re getting into while also showing off the animation.

Created by Last Note, a composer that has worked on a number of Vocaloid songs and ended up creating this series based on them, which has also seen a manga adaptation by Sayuki. Five volumes are out of the light novel series while three volumes of the manga have been released so far.

The series has Sonny Strait serving as the ADR director for it working off of the scripts from Jamie Marchie while Patrick Murphy serves as the lead engineer. The English language cast includes Trina Nishimura as Asuhi, Sonny Strait as Bimii, Monica Rial as Eruna, Lara Woodhull as Himi, Apphia Yu as Katai, Bryn Apprill as Kurumi, Chris Rager as Kuzuryu, Josh Grelle as Sadamatsu, Jamie Marchi as Seisa, Ben Phillips as Shigure, Kristen McGuire as Yuriko, Micah Solusod as Yuto, Alexis Tipton as Mewmirin and Josh Grelle as Minatogawa.

The Japanese cast includes Juri Kimura as Eruna Ichinomiya, Saori Onishi as Seisa Mikagura, Ari Ozawa as Otone Fujishiro, Ayaka Suwa as Himi Yasaka, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shigure Ninomiya, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Bimii, Natsuki Hanae as Yūto Akama, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Kyoma Kuzuryu, Makoto Furukawa as Sadamatsu Minatogawa, Ai Kakuma as Asuhi Imizu, Reina Ueda as Meika Katai, Ai Kayano as Kurumi Narumi and Asuka Nishi as Yuriko.

The anime adaptation was directed by Tarou Iwasaki and it was animated at Dogakobo. Masahiro Yokotani wrote the scripts and served as supervisor while Mamani Amazaki performed double duty as character designer and chief animation director.

Plot concept: From studio Doga Kobo, who brought you Laughing Under the Clouds and Yuruyuri, comes a new magic school adventure! Eruna Ichinomiya has no desire to focus on what high school to pick. She’d rather spend her time chasing after pretty girls or playing dating sims. After all, when the only job you want is to watch TV all day, who cares what school you attend? But when her cousin Shigure Ninomiya shows her the pamphlet to Mikagura Academy, Eruna finds her picture-perfect reason to go to high school: the beautiful Seisa Mikagura. After a bizarre entrance exam and interview with a flying, talking cat, it’s clear that Mikagura is not a typical high school. Students are focused more on clubs, battles, and their special magical attacks instead of regular studies. And if Eruna wants to win over the cool, powerful Seisa, she’s got to join a club and hone her own special attack. But that’s easier said than done.
