The Magic of Cosplay Explored With Latest ‘Lucky Star’ Anime Subtitled Clip

2 min read

Lucky Star Header 8-31While we got the domestic high definition debut of the Lucky Star TV and OVA series back in July, Funimation is working some new clip material for it to remind the next wave of potential customers that the set is out there. This one, entitled “Cosplay Magic,” brings us some fun as we get a bunch of unwelcome costume changes for Kagami as Konata waves her wand and delights fans with everything that’s revealed!

Check out our review of the set here!

Extras include On-Screen Text Reference Guide, Key Scenes Gallery, Promo Clips: The Adventures of Minour Shiraishi, Cast Interviews, Textless Opening, Textless Closing

The show originally ran in 2007 and started off as series of elaborate releases from Bandai and Kadokawa that eventually slimmed down a lot over time as sales weren’t as strong as they had thought they would be. The Japanese releases are also a bit tricky in that the Blu-ray releases there are upscales, which has us wondering if FUNimation will be releasing it in that format. With previous upscales, of which there have been almost none lately, they do list that they are that and not native HD releases.

Plot Concept: What’s the best way to eat dessert? Do twins really have a psychic connection? What kind of guys are into moe girls? These are the kinds of questions that float through the inquisitive mind of anime super-fan Konata Izumi. When she’s not lost in her favorite manga or logging hours in one of her online games, she’s debating the mysteries of the universe with the best friends a girl could ask for.

And while they might not share Konata’s refined eye for anime tropes and trivia, she doesn’t hold it against them. After all, Miyuki Takara is a precious moe dream girl, and twin sisters Tsukasa and Kagami are always there when she needs a helping hand or a notebook to copy homework from (even if Kagami insists on being totally tsundere about it). At the end of the day, Konata could look far and wide, but she’d never find a better group of girls to get her through the horrors of high school!
