2 min read

Overlord SpecialThe Overlord light novel series from Kugane Maruyama previously revealed that the eleventh volume that’s due out on September 30th, 2016 will include a bundled Blu-ray that has a new episode of anime for it. After getting the first two teasers over the last couple of weeks, Kadokawa has put together a new promotional video for the release that will be made up of chibi anime shorts that has a lot of fun with the project, something we saw with the previous bonus shorts. A little extra advertising just after Comiket 90 isn’t a bad thing!

While bundled episodes aren’t uncommon to help boost sales of various projects, especially after a TV series landed, there’s often a good chance that when you get one almost two years after the TV series ended that it could indicate another season of the TV show being produced.

Yen Press has licensed the light novels in North America while Funimation simulcast the TV series.

The summer 2015 anime series came from author Kugane Maruyama with illustrations by so-bin that’s published by Enterbrain. It began in the summer of 2012 and has had two drama CDs released with previous volumes.

The TV series was animated by Madhouse with Naoyuki Itou directing it based on the scripts by Yukie Sugawara and character designs by Takahiro Yoshimatsu.

The series starred Kenta Miyake as Cocytus, Manami Numakura as Narberal Gamma, Masayuki Katou as Demiurge, Shigeru Chiba as Sebas Tian and yumi Uchiyama as Mare Bello Fiore.

Plot concept: The series follows a salary man who remains online when the service for an MMORPG ends. In doing so, he becomes a powerful skeletal wizard. In his new form, he begins attracting followers and conquering the digital world that remains.
