During the Studio Trigger panel this weekend at Anime Expo 2016, it was revealed that the new Little Witch Academia TV series that was revealed last week is going to get a worldwide release next year. This was followed up with the reveal that Netflix will be streaming it in 2017. Naturally, with the series just entering production there aren’t any details as to how it’ll unfold and what sort of language options they’re going to kick around, but based on events for the Kickstarter OVA that was done previously I suspect we’ll be seeing some good things coming down the road for this property.
Details are still slim at the moment in regards to the production but Yoh Yoshinari will be returning to direct it and that production has moved into it fully as Space Patrol Luluco ended.
Original concept: Akko Kagariis an ordinary girl who joins the renowned witch academy for witch girls, Luna Nova Academy. When she was younger, she went to Magical Festa, a magic show hosted by a witch named Shiny Chariot. Akko was so mesmerized and inspired by Shiny Chariot’s performance that she dreamed to someday be a “cool” witch like her. This young and impressionable Akko takes Shiny Chariot’s words as her own motto: “Never forget, a believing heart is your magic.“ As part of a class, Akko and her classmates go into a labyrinth under the Tower of Luna Nova. There, a sealed ancient dragon was unleashed by one of her classmates. Akko tries to stop the dragon, but…
