The official notiminA YouTube channel has put out a special ending movie for Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress that provides for a good bit of closure in terms of revisiting the characters from the series. With the finale out there now, the ending also reveals that there will be a pair of compilation films coming out for the show on December 31st, 2016 and January 7th, 2016 in Japan for a limited two-week engagement.
The series was an interesting from a design perspective as it reunited some Attack on Titan colleagues with director Tetsuro Araki and writer Ichiro Okouchi. Okouchi is the main force behind the original Code Geass story and most of its spinoffs as well as having done the first two Berserk features for their screenplays.
The cast includes Tasuku Hatanaka as Ikoma, Sayaka Senbongi as Mumei, Maaya Uchida as Ayame, Toshiki Masuda as Kurusu, Yuuki Kaji as Takumi, Kanae Oki as Kajika, Mariya Ise as Yukina, Ryota Ohsaka as Sukari, Kensuke Satou as Kibito and Mamoru Miyano as Biba.
Plot concept: The series takes place on the island country Hinomoto, where humans hide themselves in fortresses called stations against the threat of zombie-like beings with steel hearts known as “Kabane.” Only armored locomotives known as “Hayajiro” go between the stations.
