Superman Being Cast For ‘Supergirl’ TV Series

2 min read

Supergirl SupermanWith Supergirl moving to The CW for the fall and a reshuffling of certain things to accomodate budget changes and location filming changes, it also looks like we’re going to get a casting change as well. For the first two episodes of the season, we’ll be introduced to the Superman of this timeline proper. It’s unknown whether the character will return later or simply revert back more to the sidelines through texts, but at least getting the character back on TV – and potentially a more inspirational one than the films – is what Warner and DC needs.

“Greg, Ali and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “We cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape.”

According to Deadline, “Supergirl‘s producers had said that they intentionally did not feature Superman on the first season of Supergirl to not distract from the focus of the series, Kara.”

The series stars Melissa Benoist as Kara, Mehcad Brooks Brooks, Davide Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra Danvers, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El and Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant. Dean Cain and Helen Slater are guest starring in the pilot.

Plot concept: The series centers on Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
