Saiki Kuso no Sainan HeaderThe summer 2016 anime season got a new addition last week with the announcement that the Weekly Shonen Jump manga series Saiki Kusou no Sainan is getting an adaptation with plans for a July 2016 premiere. Now that the announcement is out there, the official site has gone live and the first visual of how the adaptation will look has landed that you can see below of our lead character.

The show will be directed by Hiroaki Sakurai based on the series composition from Michiko Yokote. Masayuki Onji is on board for the character designs while JC Staff and Egg Firm will be handling the animation production for it.

The cast includes:

  • Hiroshi Kamiya as Kusuo Saiki
  • Mitsuo Iwata as Kuniharu Saiki
  • Rikako Aikawa as Kurumi Saiki
  • Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shun Kaidou
  • Daisuke Ono as Riki Nendou

The manga comes from creator Shuichi Asou which began back in 2012 and has seventeen volumes published so far. It’s not been picked up for release outside of Japan (yet). A flash anime short-form series was produced in 2013 for it, which has a different cast than what this series will have. A light novel was also produced in 2013.

Saiki Kuso no Sainan Visual

Plot concept: Saiki Kusuo has a wide array of superpowers at his command, including telepathy and telekinesis. This might sound awesome, but, in Kusuo’s experience, superpowers are not all they’re cracked up to be. He tries to live a normal life, despite his annoying abilities.
