One of my more anticipated films of the year from the comic adaptation side is Doctor Strange. With Benedict Cumberbatch making his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel last night and providing some teases about it, the first full trailer for it has arrived as well. There are definitely some amusing Batman Begins tones here and certainly some Inception moments, but these work well because people can access it with someone mentioning something familiar to draw them in. There’s a lot to like here and with the potential to open some new doors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with what else is out there beyond what we’ve seen, it’s definitely exciting.
Directed by Scott Derrickson, it will star Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen, Benedict Wong and Tilda Swinton. It’s set to debut on November 4th, 2016.
Plot concept: The film will follow the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
