Working from the four-panel manga series, which can be an ideal source for a short-form show, Pan de Peace! keeps things tight and simple with a three minute running time. The show focuses on a first year highschool girl named Minami that is all about the bread. It’s a big time in her life as the setup gets underway as it’s the first day of school and that means meeting new people and making new friends. Naturally, she discovers one quickly with Yuu, a young woman who sits next to her and has an array of bread related charms hanging from her bag. Yuu’s friend Fuyumi is also in the same class, which Minami mistakenly views as a yuri relationship initially.
In Summary:
She’s also a bit into bread which has Minami ready to climb all over her. Suffice to say, the core group comes together quickly here, which is no surprise considering the running time. Getting them together as friends quickly with more in the offing is a familiar setup and Pan dea Peace handles it well. The gags are simple but cute enough which is how you can view the character designs. There’s an awful lot that’s simple familiar here because it’s working from a standard structure and design but it has just enough style and sense of self to make it seem like it has potential, especially with the flirty yuri material. It’s an easy show to keep up on and one that will likely have a couple of cute gags each week.
