With it just about two weeks until the debut of the Kiznaiver anime series, the official site has just dropped a new two-minute promo that digs into the show in a big way. What we get is a good listen to the theme songs and the style of the show beyond the mostly 15-second character clips that we’ve been getting recently.
The show will debut on April 9th, 2016 in Japan on Tokyo MX and other networks. Additionally, Crunchyroll has set their premiere time as well for April 9th at 11:30am ET for their members. While not a finalized list, Crunchyroll has revealed the initial slate of territories they’ll be streaming it include the Americas, the Middle East and Africa, Australia and New Zealand, and English speaking Europe (United Kingdom, Ireland, the Nordics).
The Studio Trigger series previously revealed that Yuki Kaji as Katsuhira Agata, Hibiku Yamamura as Noriko Sonozaki, Yuka Terasaki as Chidori Takashiro, Tomoaki Maeno as Hajime Tenga, Misaki Kuno as Nico Niyama, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Tsuguhito Yuta, Rina Satou as Honoka Maki and Kōtarō Nishiyama as Yoshiharu Hisomu.
The series is set to be directed by Hiroshi Kobayashi based on scripts and series composition from Mari Okada. The original character designs come from Shirow Miwa with Mai Yoneyama handling the adaptations.
Plot concept: The anime’s setting is a fictional Japanese city named Sugomori City. One day, Noriko Sonosaki tells her classmate Katsuhira Agata, “You have been selected to be a Kiznaiver.” The Kizuna System, which allows Katsuhira to share his wounds, connects him to the classmates whose lives and personalities completely differ from his. The Kizuna System is an incomplete system for the implementation of world peace that connects people through wounds. All those who are connected to this system are called Kiznaivers. When one Kiznaiver is wounded, the system divides and transmits the wound among the other Kiznaivers. Sugomori City is built on reclaimed land. But as the years go by, the city’s population is decreasing. The story is set in this town where Katsuhira and the others live.
