Crunchyroll Adds ‘Joker Game’ For Spring 2016 Anime Lineup

Joker Game VisualSet for an April 5th, 2016 premiere in Japan, the upcoming series Joker Game has found its simulcast partner with Crunchyroll. The service has announced the pickup of the series with its formalized date and time to come. They’ve got things set well with this series as it’ll be open to members worldwide outside of Asia when it debuts.

The cast includes Kenyuu Horiuchi as Yuuki, Hiro Shimono as Miyoshi, Ryouhei Kimura as Kaminaga, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Amari, Takahiro Sakurai as Tazaki, Yuki Kaji as Hatano, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Odagiri, Jun Fukuyama as Jitsui, Nakai Kazuya as Fukumoto, Kenjirou Tsuda as Jirou Gamou and Tomokazu Seki as Sakuma.

This series follows the live-action film that landed in January 2015 and offers up some potential for more material if it does well as there are sequel novels out there. The new TV series is being production by Production I.G. with Kazuya Nomura directing it while Shirow Miwa is handling the character designs. The opening song that QUADRANGLE is performing with REASON TRIANGLE while MAGIC OF LIFE is handling the ending theme with DOUBLE.

Plot concept: Taking place in the year 1937 on the eve of World War II, the story involves a mysterious spy training organization known as the “D Agency”. The organization is established by Lieutenant Colonel Yuki from the Imperial Japanese Army. His ideals lead him to recruit people beyond military academy graduates and personnel, while training them to become skilled agents in arts of manipulation. These agents would become a specialized team to conduct operations. One such antihero agent under the name Jiro Kato goes on a harrowing mission to uncover secret documents called ‘Black Notes’, while battling forces from within and without his own ranks.
