Kodansha Comics has added a new license as part of their announcements that they’re bringing out throughout the day today with the pickup of In/Spectre. The manga series is known as Kyoukou Suiri in Japan and a finalized English localized title has not been set yet. The series comes from Kyo Shirodaira with artwork by Chasiba Katase. Shirodaira should certainly be a familiar name to Western audiences as he was behind Spiral, Record of a Fallen Vampire and Blast of Tempest, which recently got an anime adaptation. This series is Katase’s first known published work. In/Spectre began publication in Japan in 2015 as serialized in Shounen Magazine R. There are two volumes out in Japan so far.
The series is planned for a fall 2016 print debut.
Plot concept: When she was still just a girl, Kotoko was kidnapped by yokai. These spirits made her into a powerful intermediary between the spirit and human worlds, but this power came at a price: an eye and a leg. Now, years later, she watches out for dangerous yokai while developing feelings for a young man named Kuro, who is also special: an incident with a yokai has given him healing powers. He’s surprised when Kotoko asks him to team up to handle renegade yokai, preserving the thin line between reality and the supernatural.
