Final’Code Geass: Akito the Exiled’ Installment Gets First Anime DVD/BD Promo

Akito the Exiled Chapter 5 VisualThe final installment of Akito the Exiled as part of the Code Geass franchise landed in theaters last month in Japan on February 6th, 2016. With that now wrapped up, Bandai Visual is focusing on the home video release that’s scheduled to land on April 22nd, 2016. The release has a limited edition version coming with a box to hold the whole series and there are regular editions as well. The limited edition will have a picture drama, theatrical promo, commercials, and the audio commentary while the regular edition will just get the commercials and theatrical promo. The limited edition gets a great box with a 24-page set of liner notes and a 12-page booklet on top of the post cards.

The show has been picked up for release in North America by FUNimation and has been licensed in Australia by Madman. The original series was licensed in North America by Bandai Entertainment but has fallen out of print since the closure of the company. FUNimation picked up the rights to both properties back in the summer of 2013.

Plot concept: The story takes place in Europe in the year a.t.b. 2017. A Knightmare unit made of boys and girls from Area Eleven are thrown into a military operation with a 5% chance of survival. They must rescue an allied unit left behind on the European war front.
