Kotetsu no Kabaneri VisualThe complicated world of streaming is getting more complicated as it’s been revealed that Amazon Studios has grabbed the worldwide rights to stream Kotetsujo no Kabaneri in Japan and that they’re making it available to Amazon Prime members in the US as well. This information came out back in late January but wasn’t noticed because there’re are simply so many places where information comes from and in smaller notices sometimes that it’s impossible to find it all at times. It’s unclear if this is an exclusive acquisition or one that will be showing up on different fronts outside of Japan as the show is also getting a normal broadcast premiere in Japan next month.

The show will premiere on April 7th, 2016 on Fuji TV as part of the noitaminA block. The series, which is localized as Knocking on the Walls of the Armored Fortress, also has a prologue special that hits in theaters towards the end of March for a week.

The series is one that will be interesting from a design perspective as it’s reuniting some Attack on Titan colleagues with director Tetsuro Araki and writer Ichiro Okouchi. Okouchi is the main force behind the original Code Geass story and most of its spinoffs as well as having done the first two Berserk features for their screenplays.

The cast includes Tasuku Hatanaka as Ikoma, Sayaka Senbongi as Mumei, Maaya Uchida as Ayame, Toshiki Masuda as Kurusu, Yuuki Kaji as Takumi, Kanae Oki as Kajika, Mariya Ise as Yukina, Yota Ohsaka as Sukari, Kensuke Satou as Kibito and Mamoru Miyano as Biba.

Plot concept: The series takes place on the island country Hinomoto, where humans hide themselves in fortresses called stations against the threat of zombie-like beings with steel hearts known as “Kabane.” Only armored locomotives known as “Hayajiro” go between the stations.
