The 2016 debut of One Piece Film Gold had a truly terrible teaser last year to announce the film and it hasn’t done much to really show off the film since. That changes a little bit today with the official site now adding a new 22-second promotional video that showcases some great line art that creator Oda supervised before it transitions to a full-color piece. There are some really great bits here that if you’re able to pause and slow down a bit you can really enjoy taking in.
Scheduled for a July 23rd, 2016 theatrical release in Japan, the new visual has arrived for it and you realize that there’s been very little “gold” in the series itself, which feels weird considering they’re pirates and treasure hunters.
Hiroaki Miyamoto will be directing it based on the screenplay by Tsutomu Kuroiwa. Miyamoto previously directed a good chunk of the TV series while Kuroiwa worked on The Perfect Insider this season as well as the live action Black Butler film.
