Discotek Media picked up the old ADV Films series Dai-Guard back in December and announced a planned March 2016 release date for it since the bulk of the work was already done. The company has now formally set an April 26th, 2016 release date and has unveiled the finalized full cover artwork below as well. Originally known as Chikyuu Bouei Kigyou Dai-Guard when it aired back in 1999 for two cour, the twenty-six episode series saw release a few years later on DVD in North America. The original production was directed by Seiji Mizushima at Xebec with Mitsuru Ishihara serving as the character designer and chief animation director.
Plot concept: Thirteen years after their sudden disappearance, an alien race known as the Heterodyne resurface without warning. To combat the Heterodyne, three office workers from the 21st Century Security Corporation operate Dai-Guard – a giant robot no longer regarded as an oversized paperweight. Unfortunately, Dai-Guard is somewhat obsolete and in disrepair. It’s a tough job, but salarymen can also save the world.
