Naruto Shippuuden - Itachi Shinden-hen VisualWe learned back in December that the upcoming Naruto: Shippuuden – Itachi Shinden-hen ~Hikari to Yami~ anime adaptation would arrive in March. Now the newest issue of Saikyo Jump magazine has arrived and that’s given us a new detail with an actual premiere date of March 3rd, 2016. With that just about a month away we’re now expecting a good bit more of promotion to arrive in the coming weeks.

The new TV show in the Naruto universe will focus on Itachi, obviously, but it’s unclear at the moment how this will take place. The potential for it to run in the Shippuden timeslot for a bit, giving that show a bit of a breather, is certainly possible. It could also run similar to how Fairy Tail is handling the Fairy Tail Zero adaptation by running it in the main series. The latter is what we’re expecting considering the date that this one is now premiering. It’ll fall under the Naruto: Shippuden banner as a specialty arc within it.

Plot concept: Itachi Uchiha, age four. After seeing what occurs on the battlefield up close, he makes a certain decision. He decided that he would change the world. The dream that Itachi aimed for. His dream: A Hokage from the Uchiha clan, and a future where those he loved could live in peace. His time in the ninja academy, his meeting with Shisui, becoming a Genin, Chunin, and finally a member of the Anbu… Itachi ran straight down a path of glory, not knowing that a cruel darkness was spreading…
