The anime adaptation of Ojisan and Marshmallow has found itself a simulcast partner and home for the season as it gets underway with Crunchyroll announcing their pickup of the series. THe service will bring out the show every Thursday starting today at 2:30pm ET for their users. The show has fantastic availability as it’s open to members worldwide excluding Asia.
With it being a short-form series clocking in at 5 minutes per episode with Dream Creation backing it, we know that Hisayoshi Hirasawa will be directing it while Atsushi Oka is handling the scenario design for it. Character designs are being handled by Mari Shirakawa, who is also serving as the animation director.
The cast includes:
- Tetsu Inada as Habahiro Kusaka (Hige)
- Eri Kitamura as Iori Wakabayashi
- Kana Hanazawa as MIO5 (Mioko or Degasu-chan)
- Tetsuya Kakihara as Isamu Wakabayashi
- Kaori Taguchi as Mukai
- Suzuna Kinoshita as Machida
- Chika Yoshitomi as Senior at Marshmallow Factory
- Nozomi Furuki as Junior at Marshmallow Factory
The series is like a number of properties picking up lately where they have a strong online presence, some twenty million views on Pixiv, which doesn’t always translate to the print sales themselves. But it’s more than enough to warrant seeing if it can be taken to the next level with an anime adaptation.
Plot concept: The story centers around Kusaka, an older man who loves marshmallows, and Wakabayashi, an OL (office lady) who loves Kusaka. The manga follows as their relationship unfolds at their office.
