2 min read

Divine Gate VisualThe winter 2016 series Divine Gate is still a bit surprising in that they do keep announcing more cast members as we get closer to the premiere, though they’re more supporting or one-off in nature. The latest additions are interesting ones, however, as it’s been revealed that Megumi Ogata will be doing the narration for the series. Yukaana has also joined the series to play a character known only as a system operator and Rie Kugimiya has joined to play a mysterious character known only as Shonen K.

Marvelous Entertainment recently released the second promotional video for the series now and that reveals the January 8th, 2016 debut date for the series. It also gives us a taste of the opening theme song as well as a really good look at the animation. A new key visual was also released on the official site, which you can see to the right with a click. The show has brought on the band hitorie to do the opening song, One Meets Her, while the band vistlip will be doing the ending theme song CONTRUST.

The show is set to be animated at Studio Pierrot with Noriyuki Abe directing based on series composition from Natsuko Takahashi and character designs by Ichirou Ozawa.

The cast currently includes Tetsuya Kakihara as Akane, Soma Saito as Aoto, Kanae Itou as Midori, Ayana Taketatsu as Hikari, Sora Amamiya as Yukari, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Ginji, Yuuichi Nakamura as Arthur, Kouji Yusa as Loki, Akira Ishida as Oz, Kousuke Toriumi as Lancelot, Ami Koshimizu as Ifrit, Mai Fuchigami as Undine, Kana Asumi as Sylph, Yuri Yoshida as Metabon, KENN as Ywain, Azusa Tadokoro as Bedivere, Ayumu Murase as Breunor, Natsue Sasamoto as Tristan, Binbin Takaoka as Gareth, Arisa Kiyoto as Kay, Chihiro Ikki as Lamorak, Yuusuke Shirai as Percival, Rie Suegara as Mordred, Kenji Nomura as Palomides and Yuuki Kuwahara as Gawain.

Plot concept: When the Divine Gate opened, the living world, the heavens, and the underworld became connected, ushering an era of chaos where desires and conflict intersect. To restore order, the World Council is formed. As peace is restored, the Divine Gate becomes an urban legend. In that world, boys and girls deemed fit by the World Council are gathered. They are ones who aim to reach the gate for their personal objectives. Those who reach the gate can remake the world. What lies beyond the gate? When they reach the door, will the world change? Will it be the past that changes, or will it be the future?
