The anime adaptation for Dagashi Kashi is just around the corner and now a pair of new TV spots have surfaced in Japan. The series has found its first simulcast partner as AnimeLab has revealed recently they will be streaming the series for the winter season in Australia. While they have not set a date for it yet, the series is scheduled to debut on January 7th, 2016 on TBS and CBC before making its way out over the next few days to other providers.
The cast that’s been revealed so far includes:
- Ayana Taketatsu asHotaru Shidare
- Atsushi Abe as Kokonotsu Shikada
- Keiji Fujiwara as Yō Shikada
- Manami Numakura as Saya Endō
- Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Tō Endō
The show is set to be directed by Shigehito Takayanagi and he’s working on the scripts along with Yasuko Kamo. Character designs are being handled by Kanetoshi Kamimoto and it’s being animated at studio feel. Takayanagi seems like an ideal fit here for director, coming off of his work recently with The World God Only Knows.
The 2014 manga series comes from Kotoyama, his first work. Kotoyama’s series is pretty recent s the third volume came out on October 16th, 2015.
Plot concept: Shikada Kokonotsu’s father owns a rural sweets shop, and his plan is for Kokonotsu to take it over one day. However, Kokonotsu wants to be a manga author instead!
