2 min read

Prison School HeaderWe learned earlier this month with the 19th volume of the Prison School manga from creator Akira Hiramoto that a limited edition bundled OVA is coming for the series. The new episode is set to come wit the 20th volume of the series that’s currently scheduled for a March 4th, 2016 release and now Kodansha has unleashed the first promotional spot for it. It clocks in at thirty-seconds and has a good look at the design of it and the tone as it adapts the Mad Wax chapter. The cast and staff are returning for this project with the addition of Mikako Takahashi as Mitsuki Yokoyama.

While certainly not definitive, the reveal of an additional OVA by the same team could indicate that a second anime season is on the way.

The TV series was directed by Tsutomu Mizushima and was based on the scripts from Michiko Yokote and character designs by Junichiro Taniguchi, who is also served as the chief animation director. It was animated by JC Staff.

Originally starting in 2011, Akira Hiramoto’s Kangoku Gakuen has nineteen volumes published so far. The series is doing fairly well in Japan with over four million copies in print so far and the authors previous works, Ago Nashi Gen to Ore Monogatari and Yarisugi Companion to Atashi Monogatari have had adaptations in the last few years in the realm of mobile animation and live action film.

The cast for the series includes Hiroshi Kamiya asKyosh, Katsuyuki Konishi as Gakuto, Kenichi Suzumura as Shingo, Daisuke Namikawa as Joe, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Reiji “Andre” Andō, Sayaka Ohara as Mari, Shizuka Itou as Meiko, Kana Hanazawa as Hana, Keiji Fujiwara as Chairman Kurihara, Chinami Hashimoto as Chiyo Kurihara and You Taichi as Anzu Yokoyama.

The manga was recently licensed in North America by Yen Press.

Plot concept: Hachimitsu Academy, known for its strict academic standards and even stricter school code, is making a giant change this year. In the first time in school history, they are allowing boys to be admitted. As Fujino Kiyoshi starts his first day at Hachimitsu Academy he is shocked to find out that there are only 4 other guys in the entire school, making the ratio of girls to boys 200:1. And to their dismay, not one of the thousand girls will talk to them or even acknowledge them. But Kiyoshi and the guys are about to find out about the shadow student council that has been threatening the female students about interacting with male students.
