The first film in the trilogy with Sinbad: Soratobu Hime to Himitsu no Shima saw its home video release at the end of November arrive to solid sales and now all focus is moving towards the second film. Originally scheduled for December and then pushed back to a January 16th, 2016 release date, the film is titled Sinbad: The Magical Lamp and the Moving Island. A new full length trailer has arrived to give it a bit more promotion and entice the viewer. The third installment is still scheduled for a March theatrical debut.
The main cast is returning with:
- Tomo Muranaka as Sinbad
- Momoko Tanabe as Sana
- Nao Nagasawa as Ali
- Takeshi Kaga as Captain Razak
- While Tadashi Miyazawa has joined as Najib
The first film was directed by Shinpei Miyashita based on the script by Kaeko Hayafune and overall composition by Hiroyuki Kawasaki. Yoshiharu Satou served as both chief animation director and the character designer. Nippon Animation and Shirogumi produced the project.
Original film concept: The story begins when Sinbad and his friends run afoul of a storm while riding on the ship Bahal. Ali sights an island, which the ship heads toward to make repairs. Sinbad and Sana board a dinghy and land on the island. Sana sees a vision of a mgical lamp, and Sinbad and the others set out to find it.
