Ghost Urn HeaderThe winter 2016 anime series Koukaku no Pandora: Ghost Urn, which follows up the feature film that came out earlier this month, has now found itself a streaming home in January. AnimeLab has picked up the show for Australian distribution for fans there, though they haven’t set a date for it yet. The series is set to premiere on January 8th, 2016in Japan.

The series stars Sanae Fuku as Nene Nanakorobi, Manami Numakura as Clarion, Atsuko Tanaka as Uzal Delilah, Junpei Morita as Buer, Satsumi Matsuda as Buri, Rie Murakawa as Bunny, Marie Miyake as Takumi Korobase, Tetsu Inada as Robert Altman, Junichi Suwabe as Ian Crutz and Maria Naganawa as Eimi Giliam.

The manga was recently licensed in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment. It comes from creators Masamune Shirow and Koshi Rikdo. With Shirow writing and Rikdo illustrating, it’s a strange and surreal piece just from the cover artwork alone that you can see on the right. The series began back in October 2012 in Kadokawa Niconico Ace with several volumes published so far.

Shirow is well known for his many creations over the years, from Appleseed to Ghost in the Shell, and Rikdo gained fame with Excel Saga, which ended in 2011 and had a very popular anime adaptation for North American fans.

Plot concept: In an age when large-scale natural disasters frequently happen all over the world, when cyborgs and autonomous robots are beginning to appear on the market in technologically advanced nations, and major world powers compete for technology and resources, the divide between rich and poor grows and the future for the poor looks bleak. In this transitional stage, everyone wanders around in a self-indulgent daze and the way out isn’t clear… This is the story of how two cybernetically enhanced girls meet.
