What They Say:
“A Tale of Two Families Part One”

With the Big Bad Aechaeus in residence—somewhere in London—vampire strikes have increased in Magic Town as he and Drusilla grow their family. Determined to bring Angel into the fold, along with the strange magical entity of Magic Town, Archaeus and Dru have kept Nadira captive for her connection to both those targets. But that isn’t the only angle this pair has been working. Angel, Faith, and Fred have a battle ahead…

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Magic Town’s gone to hell. I mean, it was already pretty hellish, but it’s even moreso now with Archaeus in town trying to control Angel and the world and stuff. But those aren’t even the biggest problems. There’s been ruminations for seasons now between Angel and Faith that haven’t yet been resolved, at least to either’s satisfaction.

Magic Town is Angel’s town, but it could have been Angel Investigation’s town, or at least as it was at the time. But Faith left and Angel’s partner derailed everything. It’s Angel’s now and he felt a little hurt by that. They do have such a good rapport with each other. They have to put all that behind them though for the fight for the greater good, as they have so many times before. It’s under the rug, at least for now.

Of course there’s bigger fish to fry than personal differences. Conflict like that is boring anyway. (That’s a joke, human conflict is the most interesting.) Archaeus is gathering his troops and Angel is trying to feign him. They’re both playing a game of cat and mouse, where one is a really big demonic semi-all-powerful cat. But there’s only one winner in this game…

In Summary:
There’s a lot of moving pieces to get moving before everything goes into full swing. It sounds like this is going to be the end of season 10 soon, or at least we’re closer to the end than the beginning, so this Archaeus thing is going to move into something very, very big soon. Given that the big bad has already been in both Buffy and Angel, I’m ready for what’s waiting.
