2 min read

The MartianWith The Martian doing strong box office results around the world in general, there’s definitely some anticipation building up for the Japanese release – which doesn’t hit until February 5th, 2016! But there’s time to add a bit more hype to it and appeal to the right audiences and the marketing there is doing just that as the promotional side has brought on the main characters from Space Brothers to kind of give their own enthusiastic support and never give up attitude to the lead in the film. It’s an amusing blend of anime with the film trailer itself and it certainly should catch the eye and attention of fans of the Space Brothers series.

The film is the adaptation of the novel by Andy Weir that’s directed by Ridley Scott. The film is Ridley Scott’s fourth science fiction film, with Alien and Blade Runner done in 1979 and 1982 respectively, and then Prometheus in 2012. The novel from Andy Weir came out in 2011 as an ebook and only last year as a physical book in hardcover form as publishers had passed it over originally, prompting Weir to release it for free on his own site at first and then on Kindle for 99 cents.

The film stars Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Donald Glover. The film is set for release on October 2nd, 2015

Plot concept: During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return. Based on a best-selling novel, and helmed by master director Ridley Scott, THE MARTIAN features a star studded cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Donald Glover.
