2 min read

Pilou ASbaekThe Ghost in the Shell live-action film has found its Batou. And it’s in the form of what looks to be a Pilou Asbaek, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Asbaek may not be a familiar name but he played alongside Scarlett Johansson previously in Lucy and is set to appear in the upcoming Ben-Hur film while also playing Euron Greyjoy in the next season of Game of Thrones. Suffice to say, he’s a name to watch.

Asbæk will play Batou, the best fighter in the section and second in command in the army.

The feature is set to debut on March 31st, 2017 and is set to be directed by Rupert Sanders and is being produced by Avi Arad and Steven Paul with Mark Saurian as executive producer. Scarlett Johansson stars as the lead.

The film is being produced by DreamWorks and Paramount may invest in it, but it’s listed as Disney as they distribute DreamWorks live action films (but not DreamWorks Animation properties, which is a different company).

Property concept: Major Motoko Kusanagi is a beautiful but deadly cyborg that is squad leader of Section 9-the Japanese government’s clandestine unit assigned to battle terrorism and cyber warfare.
